Best Work
On this page, you'll find my pride and joy, what I believe is the best work I've done in this class. I believe that not only have I completely fulfilled the requirements of the assignment, but have grown more as a student with this assignment than anything else I've done. This page is then, dedicated to explaining my reasoning behind it so that other students can learn from, and appreciate their own works, as well as find pride, like I have, in completing their assignments to the fullest.
Why is this my best work?
These two paragraphs are my Best Work. They came from the final project, and to be entirely honest? I went all out. While I'm not proud of my missing Voicethread, a failure I will readily accept and bear on my shoulders, I will be proud of the Essay, as I poured my heart and soul over it. I used the English I had learned with the help of fellow students, my friends, and even some of my family to expand my understanding of English to give the best I could provide, going so far as to fix errors in my grammar that I'd never noticed. These two paragraphs in specific were absolutely my pride and ffff--uhh. My pride and joy! These were the ones I worked the hardest on, the ones where I can confidently say I put my heart out.
"The fact is, something needs to change, but a group of college students to go about requesting complete governmental reform is simply rather ludicrous. That doesn’t mean there aren’t options, though; A good place to start would be tackling the current unemployment issues. Right now, Puerto Rico’s job market just isn’t supporting the now-homeless citizens in regaining what they lost. There are simply not enough jobs for the people. One way that we can go about this is by making company-sponsored shelters–that is to say, shelters sponsored by companies such as AMGEN to head-hunt new employees. This would provide a dual solution of both shelters for people without homes and jobs for people without income. For companies, this would increase their reputation with charitability and give them the ability to far more easily be able to personally head-hunt employees, but for the people, companies could provide more funding towards shelters that governments wouldn’t be able to provide, something that would provide a much more comfortable experience to people who are about to spend what might be the worst days of their lives after having lost their homes to a natural disaster.
Despite the urgency of the situation, nothing effective is happening to support Puerto Rico. The abandoned houses, the foreclosure crisis, and the lack of support programs set in place culminate into a situation that just isn’t acceptable. As it is, the issue is so great that any long-term fixes would require reviewing everything the Puerto Rican government does to even begin to fix these problems. A complete governmental reform is necessary, even when it’s completely impractical in the short term, but if nothing is done, then nothing will change. People will stay homeless, towns will keep looking more and more run down until eventually, Puerto Rico will be nothing more than a dump. Fixing this is going to take time, but a perfect place to begin is by attacking the unemployment crisis head-on."
